The Altec team has been working on a Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) wing coaster at the Happy Valley amusement park in Chongqing, China—one of only 9 of these types of rides in the world. What makes a wing coaster different from other roller coasters is the riders sit in pairs on either side of the track, giving them the sensation of free flight. Altec’s role has been to design, build and program the control system for the roller coaster. In addition, the team commissioned the control system, including setting up the hardware, testing and validating the functionality of the control system, performing acceptance and safety testing, and training operations staff.
Happy Valley is a chain of amusement parks in China, and the Chongqing location is slated to open in June, 2017. This is Altec’s first project with B&M, and we look forward to working with them again in the near future.
