In October 2004, Altec's first 32-point XY Scanner 3D was installed at Alberta Plywood in Slave Lake Alberta.  The new system replaced an outdated 5-point scanner on the existing Coe 784 charger.  Installation and start-up occurred over a regularly scheduled long-weekend in approximately 72 hours.  Thanks to all involved for a smooth installation and start-up.

The system included 32 laser sensors and integrated motion controllers for a complete drop-in replacement of the existing system.

Since the successful installation, the customer has reported increases in both recovery and production due to more accurate positioning of the bock and more accurate carriage retract positioning.
