Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey is a thrilling, high-speed immersive indoor dark ride based on the world-renowned best-selling novels by J.K Rowling. The ride is located in
the heart of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter village in Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios, Orlando Florida.
The attraction takes guests on the ride of their lives, flying though the air on an enchanted bench while experiencing the full potential of a KUKA RoboCoaster robotic arm driven around a ride track, interacting with the most technologically advanced show sets a theme park can offer.
Altec worked extensively with KUKA Robotics, Rockwell Automation, Siemens and sub system integrators to engineer and deliver a ride control system
Overcoming many engineering challenges, Altec succeeded in the design and supply of a vehicle subsystem safety controller, propelling the enchanted bench ride vehicle along a ride track, synchronizing the complex coordinated multi axis motion base while maintaining a high degree of positional accuracy.
The ride has received much critical acclaim, and has won many awards including the 2010 Golden Ticket Award for best new ride, and best dark ride for five consecutive years from 2011 to 2015. The success of this project led to the opening of two more attractions in Osaka, Japan and Hollywood, California.
