The recent installation of an Altec XY Scanner at Roseburg Forest Products, Plant # 3 has met all expectations.  The system was officially "certified" by Roseburg after extensive acceptance testing.

In addition to meeting all positioning performance objectives, the customer has realized higher production due to a huge reduction in "bad scans" that required re-scanning.  Through the use of high-performance lasers and sophisticated signal processing algorithms, the Altec XY Scanner is able to handle adverse conditions such as steam, dark colour, bark and knots.

The Altec XY Scanner replaced an aging scanner that was no longer supported by the manufacturer.  Installation took place over a regular weekend shutdown and the system was up and running by 6 AM Monday morning.
