Electric Actuators
Altec is the first company to have installed electric roller screw actuators on the lathe carriage and has successfully completed dozens of installations over the last ten years. Traditional ball screw carriage drives and complicated bar gap systems are extremely maintenance-intensive; electric actuators are more precise and more rigid than traditional hydraulic or ball screw actuators which results in improved peel quality and thickness control. With independent roller screw actuators, wear points are eliminated, maintenance is reduced, and peel quality is improved.
Electric roller screw actuators herald a new era in the mechanical and electronic control of veneer green end lines, plywood lay up lines, and a multitude of other applications. By replacing existing pneumatic and hydraulic actuation, substantial power savings can be realised, providing an environmentally safe option for the future development of the industry.
